We’re heartbroken to share the news that Alex Francis, author of Spidercat, has died at the age of 48. Alex cared deeply about stories, creativity, and the importance of LGBTQ+ children seeing themselves reflected in books. We’re so proud to have worked with him.

Set in a quiet seaside town, the story starts with the sudden appearance of a boy who should not exist. Pre-orders open on 10th January 2026.

The book brings together a series of powerful, intimate monologues exploring memory, love, grief, and survival. For every copy sold, a donation will be made to Switchboard, the UK’s LGBTQ+ helpline.

Exploring queer identity, migration, love, and longing, the collection is rooted in liminal spaces and moments of transition.
