Reconnecting Rainbows is working in partnership with The Art House Southampton and Solent Mind to create peer support groups run by and for people who identify as LGBTQIA+ in Southampton.

We are piloting a ‘Rainbow Tent’ event, along the lines of the popular Red Tent group for women, at The Art House in Above Bar St, Southampton, on Thursday 18 October and Thursday 22 November 2018 from 7.30 to 10pm.

Each Rainbow Tent gathering starts with a sharing circle (where a ‘talking bowl’ is passed round and everyone’s free to contribute when it’s their turn, or just pass the bowl on if they don’t feel ready to share).   It could also include a discussion topic or campaign of the week, self-care, a celebration of nature or the season, or simple art and craft activities.

The Rainbow Tent is open to anyone who identifies anywhere on the LGBTQIA+ spectrum, or is questioning their sexuality or gender.  Tickets are available on the door for £8 (standard), £6 (concessions), or £10 (extra donation).   Takings will be split between Reconnecting Rainbows and The Art House, a community interest cafe run mainly by volunteers.

We’re also offering peer support training in collaboration with Solent Mind (four half-day sessions over four consecutive weeks) for volunteers who’d be interested in starting up one or more ongoing LGBTQIA+ peer support groups in the new year.  Please contact us if you’re interested in participating or learning more.
